Regaining Internet Freedom In Pakistan

Having very bad experience with all the browser plugins & applications to bypass country’s restriction on google services & my personal favourite search engine http://www.filestube.com/ I decided to test Win7 built-in VPN functionality to anonymise myself online & guess what I have been perfectly successful.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, a network that connects one or more computers to a large network, such as a business network, using the Internet. A VPN is encrypted and safe, so it’s widely adopted by many of businesses. VPN is a pretty complicate network protocol that we are not going to discuss more deep in here. What I cover in this post is a simple how-to that simply shows the steps to set up a VPN connection in Windows 7.

Without doing any cracking of premium applications & without getting any unwanted ads in my browsing experience (remember most application if free are ad-supported) I can now browse with full freedom, though  I have to sacrifice ~5% of my internet speed. So for those who don’t want to pollute their computers with lots of applications & need a neat solution -  follow my lead:

  1. Open up command prompt by pressing Win+R keyboard shortcut
  2. Input the following command to open up Network & Sharing Center

    control.exe /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter

  3. Now setup a new connection and network » Connect to workplace » Use VPN
  4. In the next dialogue use superfreevpn.com both for Internet Address & Destination name.
  5. Now open up this website http://superfreevpn.com/ to get username & password for free VPN*
  6. After some authentication you will be connected to remote server
  7. Now you can bypass Pakistan Government’s policies!

*Username & Password are updated daily, so you need to bookmark this website.A better alternative is http://getukvpn.com/ or http://vpnbook.com/ (Click on the PPTP tab). Change server/username/password values for respective websites providing VPN services
